Several new Cyber Security roles have been added to Australia’s Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL), expanding opportunities for employer-sponsored migration.
Previously, ICT Security Specialist (262112) was the primary occupation available for cyber security professionals. Now, dedicated roles such as Cyber Governance Risk and Compliance Specialist (262114), Cyber Security Advice and Assessment Specialist (262115), and Cyber Security Analyst (262116) provide greater clarity and targeted pathways for migration applicants.
Key Differences from ICT Security Specialist
🔹 ICT Security Specialist (262112) – A broad role covering network security, system protection, and overall IT security infrastructure. Still available under the General Skilled Migration program.
🔹 Cyber Governance Risk and Compliance Specialist (262114) – Focuses on policy, risk management, and compliance with security regulations. Only on CSOL
🔹 Cyber Security Advice and Assessment Specialist (262115) – Specialises in identifying vulnerabilities, conducting assessments, and advising on security strategies. Only on CSOL
🔹 Cyber Security Analyst (262116) – Involves real-time monitoring, threat detection, and incident response to prevent cyber threats. Only on CSOL
