With a limit of 1800 places across the Subclass 190 and 491 visa types, the ACT Government aims to ensure that applicants who will make a positive economic contribution to the Territory and/or have demonstrated a genuine commitment to the ACT are invited to apply for ACT nomination.
Migrants seeking nomination from the ACT must first complete the ‘Canberra Matrix’; a point-scoring system similar to SkillSelect. Points can be claimed against specific criteria including skilled employment, English proficiency, qualifications, length of ACT residence, having a Critical Skill occupation, investment activity, and close family ties.
Applicants currently in Australia must be living in the ACT unless they completed a PhD at an ACT university in the last 2 years.
The ACT will only offer one nomination place per person. If successfully nominated for a 491 or 190 visa, applicants cannot apply for another ACT nomination place in a different subclass.
AVIE can guide you through the 190 and 491 application process, including lodging an EOI, completing the Matrix, and preparing the visa application if invited.
