New legislation brought in today will prevent Subclass 407 Trainees from lodging an application until both the Sponsorship and Nomination have been approved.
From 11 March 2026 it will no longer be possible to lodge a Temporary Activities Sponsorship, Training Nomination, and Training Visa to process concurrently.
The TAS and Training Nominations can process together, but Trainees could be waiting a significant period before they could even lodge a visa application, with applications currently taking anywhere from 88 days to 11 months to process.
This change will affect all Training visa applications lodged from 11 March 2026 onwards. Those lodged prior to the change will remain unaffected.
Careful planning will be needed to manage potential Trainees with visa expiries while waiting for the Sponsorship and Nomination applications to be processed.
