Immigration has announced changes to the eligibility requirements for the Subclass 407 Training Visa program.
From 12 November 2026, applicants must be located outside Australia at the time of lodgement, and outside Australia at the time of grant.
This follows on from changes made in March 2026 to require that the 407 Nomination be granted before a Visa application can be lodged, and further supports Immigration’s focus on reducing ‘visa hopping’ by preventing extended temporary stays in Australia.
Subclass 407 Visa applications lodged prior to 12 November can still be made while the applicant is in Australia, and will continue to process under the current rules.
