From 31 July 2024, it will no longer be possible to apply for a Subclass 188 Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa as a new applicant.
The Australian Government found that this program was not delivering the economic results expected, so undertaking a review as part of the new National Innovation visa
However, existing 188 visa holders can continue to:
· add family members via a subsequent entrant application; and
· access the extension stream; and
· transition to the Subclass 888 permanent visa.
Applications lodged before 31 July 2024 will still be processed under the current legislation.
For applicants who no longer wish to continue with a lodged 188 application, refunds of the Government Lodgement fees will be available from September 2024 when the case is withdrawn.
