This visa is designed for individuals participating in diplomatic work, government-sponsored programs, or fulfilling international obligations.

Key Features of the Subclass 403 Visa:

The Subclass 403 Visa enables individuals to contribute to Australia’s international relations, whether it’s through diplomatic missions, government programs, or international trade agreements. To apply, you must be invited, nominated, or sponsored by either the Australian government or a foreign government agency.

Streams under the Subclass 403 Visa:

  • IECSEP (Innovation and Early Careers Skills Exchange Pilot): A program under the Australia-United Kingdom Free Trade Agreement (A-UK FTA), designed for young professionals from the UK. It includes two streams:
  • Early Careers Stream: For applicants aged 21-45 with a tertiary qualification and at least 3 months of relevant work experience.
  • Innovation Stream: For skilled professionals contributing to innovation, without any age limits.
  • SDE Pilot (Skills Development Exchange Pilot): A program for Indonesian and Australian organisations to send workers on temporary work placements, available for several industries like agribusiness, creative economy, mining, and more.

Benefits and Restrictions:

  • The Subclass 403 Visa allows part-time work, and there is no limit on occupation as long as it falls under the ANZSCO Skill level classifications.
  • Applicants may apply from both inside or outside Australia, and no employer sponsorship is needed for certain pilot programs.
  • Family members cannot be included in the application, although adult family members may apply separately if eligible.
  • The visa cannot be renewed, but it’s possible to apply for a new one after completing the previous term under certain conditions.
