The Northern Territory Government has provided an update on its General Skilled Migration (GSM) nomination program for the 2025–26 program year.

At this stage, the NT Government has not yet received its full nomination allocation from the Australian Government. A small interim allocation was released earlier in the program year, but this has now been exhausted, and new applications are temporarily closed until the full allocation is received.

What This Means for Applicants

  • The NT nomination portal is currently closed for new applications.
  • Applications that have already been lodged will still be assessed, and eligible candidates will be prioritised once the full allocation becomes available.
  • The NT Government website will be updated once new allocations are confirmed.

About the Northern Territory Government Nomination

The Northern Territory can nominate skilled migrants for two visa types:

Applicants must:

  • Meet the Department of Home Affairs’ general visa criteria
  • Satisfy NT nomination eligibility
  • Commit to living and working in the NT for at least three years after visa grant

A nomination from the Northern Territory Government is not a job offer but a state endorsement to support your visa application based on regional skills needs.

If you’ve already lodged an application, there’s no need to resubmit,  your file will be reviewed once new allocations are received.
