Do you need a skills assessment for a 485 visa?
Applicants for the 485 Post-Vocational Education Work stream visa are required to provide a positive skills assessment in their nominated occupation to be granted the visa. This should also be related to their course of study in Australia.
Each occupation has a dedicated assessing body. Assessments from other organisations will not be accepted.
Some examples include:
Chef – Trades Recognition Australia (TRA), or one of their approved RTOs
Mechanical Engineering Draftsperson – Engineers Australia or VETASSESS
Childcare Centre Manager – Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality (ACEQCA)
Management Consultant – VETASSESS
Welfare Centre Manager – Australian Community Workers Association (ACWA)
Telecommunications Network Planner – Engineers Australia
Cabinet Maker - Trades Recognition Australia (TRA)
Primary Health Organisation Manager – VETASSESS
Evidence of having applied for the skills assessment must be provided at visa lodgement.
