The 2025–26 Tasmanian Skilled Migration State Nomination Program has not yet opened to new registrations of interest. Further details, including opening dates and updated selection policies, will be shared in the coming weeks.

Interim Skilled Migration Nomination Allocation

While the Australian Government finalises the full allocation for the 2025–26 program year, it has granted Tasmania a small interim allocation of 165 skilled visa nomination places. These are divided as follows:

This interim allocation will not be used for new applicants. Instead, it will ensure that applicants who were provisionally approved in the 2024–25 program year but could not be nominated due to limited places are prioritised.

How Places Will Be Allocated

  • Subclass 491: All provisionally approved applicants will now be formally nominated.

  • Subclass 190: As there are currently more than 85 provisionally approved applicants, not all can be nominated at this stage. Priority will be given to applicants already in Australia whose current visas are expiring soon, or those who currently hold a bridging visa.

Applicants who have not yet received their nomination have been notified via email. They will have their nomination confirmed once Tasmania receives its final 2025–26 allocation from the Australian Government.

Next Steps

For now, the program remains closed to new registrations of interest. Skilled migrants interested in applying for Tasmanian nomination are encouraged to keep an eye out for updates on:

  • Final nomination allocations

  • Opening dates for new registrations

  • Updated selection policies
