As confirmed on 19 September 2024, the Victorian Government has set aside at least 500 Subclass 491 visa places in the 2024-25 program to give recent graduates a pathway to permanent residency.
‘Recent Graduates’ are deemed to be current Student Visa and Graduate visa holders who completed their qualification at a Victorian college or university, and who are currently living in Victoria.
This includes applicants currently based in Melbourne, though they will be expected to relocate to a region in line with the 491 conditions.
As an added bonus, the requirement to demonstrate employment in Victoria is also waived for Recent Graduates!
Intending migrants should note that the other standard 491 requires still apply, including having a full skills assessment, at least Competent level English, and meeting the points test.
